networking problems...

So my desktop is working again, but there is a teensey problem, the wireless card is fried. I have an ethernet cable I can use until I get a new card, but my computer does not seem to like it... when i plug in the cable to my router, and the other end to my computer, it does not connect! when I tell the computer to "repair" the connection, it says "failed to query TCP/IP Settings of the connection, cannot proceed"
Now, I have no IDEA what this means, or how to fix it. I installed the ethernet drivers that came with the motherboard again, but no dice, it still gives the same error, and I tried restarting after the install.
Any help to be given?

If so, try resetting the winsock stack.
Enter:
netsh winsock reset
Hit enter and restart
Reopen the CMD window
Enter :
netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
Hit enter, and restart again.

that error message is weird though, never seen it before, might want to just follow Nirach's advise. Either that or something is fucked in your tcip settings
go to the network connections
Right Click the Local Area Connection ->Properties
In the window where it has all the protocols click the TCP/IP one and click "Properties".
Make it is set to Obtain IP Automatically.

Disable it in device manager and see if that fixes your ethernet issues.
