Napalm Riot

TWEWY is the quintessential JRPG, with a few added twists. These are most signifigant in the the areas of Controls, Music and Abilites System.

Graphics: Good for an isometric DS JRPG. Backgrounds are well done, and characters are of top quality, even if the whole "what gender are you, Im not quite sure" aspect is a little off-putting.

Sound: This I have a gripe with. The music in this game is nothing more than highly annoying J-Pop, looped for over world and battle scenes. I do not like J-Pop. There may be those that do, and that is fine, but not me.

Controls: Here is a seriously bad idea. Have two characters to be controlled in battle, on separate screens, with vastly different control schemes. The bottom screen character uses only touch commands to fight, by drawing patterns. The top screen character uses only button combos to fight. This, to me, was pretty distracting, until I was informed that, guess what! I didnt actually NEED to do anything for the top screen character. The AI could do a fine job for me. Whatever, I thought it was weird, and kinda pointless....

Story/Fun: This is where I think the game really shines. It has a really intriguing story, IMO. Two kids, mysteriously wake up in Shibuya with no recent memories and learn they have to win a game to survive. Add in strange challenges and wacky enemies, and the game really is pretty fun.

Replay: Well, I was gonna have this whole spoiler-section about the ending, but then a plot-related thing happened, and I wasn't done. explanation has a spoiler, so don't read any more if you don't want to know:




so it turns out what you belive to be the final boss is really just the final boss of the first week. (the game is broken into days)
