    Personally, I find the leveling-up animation to be annoying--when I see a ship start to glow like that in the middle of battle the first thing I think is that it's about to explode or something.

      I have some mods enabled that increase the complexity of firing animations, as well as increase max fleet capacity. :p
      I think my total fleet capacity is at 100x normal...
